Roofers in Greenford

Greenford houses and what roofers find on them

Greenford grew quickly between the wars, so a large part of the area is 1930s semi-detached and terraced housing. These homes typically have hipped or gabled roofs in clay or concrete tiles, bay windows with small lead or felt roofs, and brick chimney stacks. As a result, many are now approaching the age where the original tiles, nails and battens are at the end of their life.

Common problems we are asked to look at in Greenford include:

• Leaks around chimney stacks where lead flashing has lifted or the mortar has washed out.
• Bay window roofs that let water into the front room.
• Slipped or cracked tiles after high winds.
• Flat roofs on rear extensions and garages that pond water and crack.
• Blocked or sagging gutters that push water back under the eaves.

Survey first, then a written quote

For that reason, we do not quote a price over the phone for a roof we have not seen. After a survey, our roofers in Greenford explain what they found and whether a repair will last, and then put a written quote in your hands. If a full new roof is the better long-term option, we will show you why rather than simply telling you.

In addition, we work Monday to Saturday, 8am to 8pm, and Sundays by appointment. We are not an overnight emergency service, but Greenford is close to our Southall yard, so we can often make a leaking roof safe quickly.

If your house is in one of the borough’s conservation areas, Ealing Council may need to approve changes to how the roof looks. We will flag this at the survey so you can check before any work is booked.
