Much of Southall is Victorian and Edwardian terraces off The Broadway and South Road. Further out, towards Norwood Green and Dormers Wells, you find 1930s semi-detached houses. The terraces usually have slate or clay tile roofs, shared party walls, valley gutters and chimney stacks more than a century old. Most of our call-outs here are for lead flashings around those chimneys, cracked ridge mortar and slipped slates.

By contrast, the 1930s semis tend to have hipped roofs finished in plain or interlocking concrete tiles. On these, the usual problems are worn felt under the tiles, tired valleys and gutters, and leaks where a later extension meets the original roof. Many Southall homes also have flat-roofed rear extensions, kitchens or garages. Older felt coverings on these crack and pond water, and they are often the first thing to leak in heavy rain.

How we work

First of all, every job starts with a survey. We look at the roof and explain what we find in plain English. Then we give you a written quote before any work begins. Where a repair will do, we say so; we only recommend a full replacement when the roof genuinely needs it. We keep the site tidy, protect gardens and driveways, and take waste away when the job is finished.

Our hours are Monday to Saturday, 8am to 8pm, with Sunday visits by appointment. We are not a 24-hour call-out service. However, because we are based in Southall, we can often make a morning leak safe the same day.
